Marc Zupan, Ph.D |
Material Science Engineer |
Dr. Marc Zupan, Ph.D. is one of CED Investigative Technologies Inc. (CED) material science experts as well as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at UMBC- University of Maryland Baltimore County. In prior endeavors, Dr. Zupan was a National Science Foundation International Research Fellow in the Micromechanics Centre at the University of Cambridge Engineering Department. While at Cambridge he served as an Academic Fellow at Pembroke College. Dr. Zupan earned his Doctoral and Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Johns Hopkins University in 2000 and1997. Dr. Zupan holds a Bachelors degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering which he earned in 1995 from the University of Dayton. He directs MicroMaterials projects to use explicit experimental observation to calibrate analytical and numerical models rooted at the appropriate length scale to capture material structural behavior or physical phenomena. The models and experimental results enable design lead optimization of material selection in a multidisciplinary design space. As a member of the Society of Experimental Mechanics, The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society, Materials Research Society, and the Society for the Advancement of Materials and Processing Engineering Dr. Zupan possess the necessary skills, experience and impressive background to successfully provide inclusive investigations in Material Sciences.
